India is experiencing an unprecedented and deadly second wave of COVID-19. The number of recorded people newly infected has reached stratospheric proportions. After seven consecutive days of more than 350,000 daily cases, India broke a grim record with a whopping 401,993 new cases on 1 May—the highest ever daily count globally. Healthcare facilities and staff across the country are struggling to cope with the surge in cases.
Our local staff in India right now are the real heroes who inspire me today. They are petrified and out of sorts, as we were when COVID numbers were rising here in Australia – although this is on a completely different scale. And yet they are out there doing the work, working on the frontlines of this pandemic. I think our locally hired team members don't get enough credit for the fact that they can't get on the plane and come home at some point.
With 50 years of experience fighting epidemics, we’re committed to protecting the most vulnerable and saving lives.
